The idea of having an offline map app for the largest Japanese cities is pretty nice so I gave it a try. It is anyway good to have a GPS location to at least find where you are in the middle of Tokyo.
Obviously there are also no street names since not common in Japan, so having the location on the map is good feature.
I die not like the functionality though, especially identifying POI is not so nice, cool would also be web links to the POIs if available.
i already unlock all feature why still asking to buy it again?!!!??
Some bad moments
I had high hopes in this app. There seems to be a bug that does not allow the in-app purchase of the offline features. What a pity.
Map app worked in the past with previous incarnation of iOS. However the app no longer runs after the update. Please fix the bugs so that I can use the app again.
On a separate note. For those of you that have not been to Japan, please be aware that many Japanese cities,including Tokyo, do not have street names. (The map when working are correct in not showing any) Navigation is more by area, landmarks, and city block groups. In the cities there are sometimes maps that will show you the listing of the city block number (sometimes missing) that will be of some aid in narrowing down the location you are looking for once you are in the general area, although locals we encountered were more than willing to help direct us.
The map was all in Japanese and the search was not working... A good thing I had a pay has you go data plan and Google map
Its very hard to use a map. Too much unneeded details for every current view renders at the moment.
The application contains a lot of mistakes. Do not count on the fact that the developers will fix them. Past their application "Japan GPS" has never been updated since its release, despite his faults.
I dont know who created this app, but dont bother with it. I just moved to Roppongi and was hoping to get something I could use. It is difficult to navigate, maps feel old, the locate function is off and non of the POIs I looked up were available. I wish I could get my $$ back. And guess what?!? App Support page "cannot be found". Go figure. Kind of ironic.
